About Me

I grew up in Oakville, doing a variety of jobs including pizza delivery and telephone sales for a local auto club, moved to Toronto at 18, worked for a Graphic Arts Company. I put myself through school doing COM (computer Originated Microfilm) graduating The Ontario College of Art in 1984 from a 4 year program in Fine Arts, I spent my final year at their off campus studio in New York City, an experience I will always remember.

In May of 1987 my wife and I left for a year of travel in Europe, and ended up living and working in London, Neuchatel, and Geneva, Switzerland traveling in between times throughout Europe. Finally settling in Geneva, using previous lab experience I found a job with a professional photo lab in Geneva, this was when I started thinking seriously about photography. I processed film, manually printed from both colour transparency and negative film and learned a lot from the work of others. On my own time I shot landscapes, nature, portraits and theater; anything I could, as often as I could.

We returned to Canada and Oakville in 1999 with our son, I opened Hayhurst Photography the following year in March of 2000. My experience and background have served to enhance my reputation as a creative, reliable, professional photographer of choice in the GTA.
